Baca perkataan yang Yesus ucapkan.
Yesterday the leaders questioned Jesus’ authority; today His own questions and parable reveal what their challenge is really testing.
Watch: The High Stakes of Rejecting Jesus’ Authority Today
Watch the companion video, then continue reading to examine the biblical testimony in its full context.
“Was the baptism of John from heaven or from man?” Jesus’ counter-question is not evasion. It exposes whether His questioners are willing to recognize divine authority when it confronts them.
Why Did You Not Believe Him?
Their private discussion reveals the problem. If they say John’s baptism was from heaven, Jesus can ask why they refused him. Their difficulty is moral as well as intellectual.
A Beloved Son Is Sent.
In the parable, the vineyard owner sends servants and finally his beloved son, reasoning that the tenants will respect him. Instead, they kill him and seize what is not theirs.
The Stone the Builders Rejected.
Jesus quotes Psalm 118: rejection does not overturn God’s purpose. The builders can reject the stone, but God makes it the cornerstone.
They Knew He Spoke Against Them.
Mark states that the leaders understand the parable’s target. The issue is no longer lack of clarity. They recognize the accusation and still seek a way to seize Jesus.
Tomorrow, consider what Jesus’ answer reveals about His place in God’s purpose.
